Domain Registration
Thanks to our automated system, the domain you order is registered immediately after payment. This ensures that no one else can register the same domain.
Note that when placing an order, you must also select a web hosting service for the domain.
Domain Renewal
Domains are valid for 1, 3, or 5 years. Renewal is not included in the contract. You can easily renew your domain 1 month before it expires using our automated system, which sends reminder notifications at regular intervals.
Domain Transfer
For international com/net/org domains, transfers always take at least 5 days. This is the minimum time, and in optimal conditions, the transfer usually takes about a week. Transfers will not succeed if the current registrar does not approve the transfer within the five (5) day period. A domain transfer key (EPP Auth Code) is required, and the transfer lock must not be activated.
FI domains usually transfer within one day, always through the receiving registrar, and require a transfer key from the previous registrar.
Using the EPP interface, you can obtain international domains and the transfer key or registrar change key for your .fi domain directly through your customer panel.
Domain Parking
The parking service allows you to reserve a domain for future use. It is ideal in situations where you don’t yet need web hosting but want to secure the domain. You can also transfer an existing domain to the parking service, keeping unnecessary site costs low while retaining ownership of the domain. Once lost, a domain can be difficult, expensive, or impossible to reclaim.
DynDNS Service
When you are often away from home, there is sometimes a need to access your home computer via SSH or VNC. This can be difficult because most home broadband connections have a dynamic IP address that changes periodically. This can be solved by using a dynamic DNS service. The idea is that the computer periodically checks whether its IP address has changed, and if so, updates the new IP address on the service provider's server, which then redirects it to an easier-to-remember domain name.
Anycast-Based Name Server
Only .fi domains are eligible for an anycast-based name server.
DNSSEC Secures Name Servers
DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions) is a service that enhances the security of name servers. DNSSEC acts as a kind of insurance, ensuring that internet users reach the exact website they intend to visit. It protects against attacks targeting the name server system.
DNSSEC ensures that responses to name server queries come from the correct sender and have not been altered. When DNSSEC is active, responses to name server queries are digitally signed.
Each domain in the name server is assigned a unique IP address (e.g., the IP address of www.traficom.fi is 87.239.126.33). DNSSEC technology ensures that the querying computer (e.g., a web browser) sees whether the response received via the name server comes from a server registered as trusted.
